Distribute a target weight across the bar

Begin with total weight

The target includes the bar and every plate. With a 100 kg target and a 20 kg bar, 80 kg remain for plates. Each side receives 40 kg.

Load from large to small

Large plates go onto the bar first. Smaller plates complete the remaining weight. The calculator on the EasyPlate page always shows one side because the second side is loaded identically.

Check what is available

A calculator can only work with the selected plate sizes. If a remainder is left, the target cannot be reached exactly with that selection. The nearest reachable value is the practical alternative.
